She went on to train at a dressage yard in the Midlands and then to Millfield school to complete her BHSAI. She spent 2½ years as chief instructor and head girl at Mendip Riding Centre and then two seasons as sole charge groom for the Mendip Farmers Hunt and part-time for Caroline Keevil’s Eventers and point-to-pointers. After taking a break for a few years to start a family she set up the small livery yard on the farm which has gone from strength to strength and now she is in charge of the well-being of over 35 horses.
Dean Sparkes
Dean and his family have run a dairy herd at Vale Hollow Farm for 3 generations. There are 250 acres of land around the farm that is open for hacking and fitterning work. Dean is extremely handy with a hammer and makes sure that the yard stays well maintained. He is equally useful with a tractor and removes the muck heap weekly. The hay and straw is always in good supply, not to mention the excellent maintenance of the grazing pasture. If there is one thing Dean knows how to do well it’s grow grass!
